NAI Martens Team Members Receive CCIM Scholarship Two Years in a Row
Marshall Johnson, currently an intern at NAI Martens for his second summer, was awarded the Layman L. Clark / Kansas CCIM Scholarship in Real Estate.
Marshall Johnson is a senior at Wichita State and plans to earn a degree in finance with an emphasis in real estate next May. Johnson has worked at NAI Martens as both an appraisal and brokerage intern.
“It’s really an honor to receive the Layman L. Clark / Kansas CCIM Chapter Scholarship,” Johnson said. “Some of the brightest minds in Wichita real estate came together to make this happen and I’m incredibly grateful for this award.”
The scholarship is awarded by WSU with the Kansas CCIM Chapter. Commercial advisor Glenn Cox, who graduated from WSU in May, received the same scholarship last year.
“Receiving the Clark Scholarship was one of the greatest accomplishments from my tenure at Wichita State,” Cox said. “As I continue my career, knowing I received that recognition from WSU and one of the communities’ pillars of commercial real estate is humbling and reassurance of my desire to succeed in the field and in Wichita.”
The scholarship was started in 2011 by Stephen L. Clark and named after his father Layman L. Clark. Both Stephen Clark and his son, Stephen Clark II, are alumni of Phi Delta Theta, a fraternity of which Johnson is also a member.
“It’s awesome to receive this scholarship from an academic and professional standpoint, but also from fellow fraternity brothers of mine at Clark Investment Group,” Johnson said.
Johnson plans to earn his license and work in commercial brokerage after graduation, and long-term he hopes to transition to real estate development. He says he is grateful to be a part of the Martens team and is excited to get involved with the real estate community on a broader scale.
“I’m very thankful for everyone at NAI Martens for allowing me to join the company and learn more about the industry,” Johnson said. “I’m looking forward to getting involved in the Wichita real estate community and attending CCIM events in the near future.”
Johnson will remain an intern through the fall semester as well.
“I’m looking forward to continuing my career in real estate in Wichita, and I’m excited to be involved and be able to grow with the city.”
